Origins

Writer and Director Tricia Cramer came up with the story after remembering different anecdotal stories  about how fathers would "teach" their sons how to become a men. Lingering questions always remained about the real impact of such experiences. Bringing on cinematographer Matt McCanna, and producers Mary McCune and Brian Peterson lead to further development and Sucker began to take shape.

Taking Shape

After raising over $6,000 on Kickstarter and becoming recipients of the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment's Made in NY Grant of $10,000, Sucker was filmed over a handful of days on location in Flushing, Queens. Casting began months in advance, and after several months and over a hundred actors, the right cast was found.
